This is a project where the design goals are to achieve ESD living outcomes throughout the processes of its build and operation.
The land is a hardwood plantation privately owned in the hinterland of Coffs Harbor, Nana Glen.
The design seeks to draw on the resources of the property by harvesting and milling the timbers from the site.
Rammed earth walls, recycled glazing, bush fire escape bunker, water harvesting, grey water filtration, composting waste, solar energy, permaculture landscaping and passive building environment controls are some of the ESD initiatives.
This project aims to minimize embodied energy of the building materials and ensure the carbon offset is neutralised once inhabited.
